There are two types of wheels you’ll use to sharpen your skates. Use a Hollow Grinding Wheel to sharpen to your favorite radius of hollow. A 3/4” wheel is a great place to start. As you get familiar with your wheel preferences. you’ll learn how ice conditions and your style of play affect your hollow of choice.
A Flat Grinding Wheel will also come in handy to “reset” your blade - important when prepping new steel or refreshing damaged edges. On average, a wheel will sharpen about 75 pairs of skates. Your PROSHARP skate sharpener will notify you when it’s time for a new wheel!
